Counseling employs a variety of strategies to teach and practice skills that offer both short- and long-term relief. Both general abilities like self-awareness, active listening, and communication skills as well as particular skills like mindfulness and behavior modification are taught to clients.

Counseling can encourage resilience-building elements.

Indicators of resilience include (Johnston et al., 2015):

• Having a sense of direction or purpose in life 

• Feeling good

 Hardiness 

• Self-worth

• Active coping, self-efficacy, optimism, and cognitive flexibility are all desirable traits.

The advantages of group therapy



A fantastic therapeutic choice, group counseling has special advantages that individual counseling might not be able to offer.

For the majority of diseases, group therapy is just as successful as one-on-one therapy, provided the group is focused on the problem being treated (Erford, 2018).

A group of 5 to 15 clients participates in group therapy under the direction of one or more leaders (professional counselors, therapists, or psychologists). The average weekly meeting time for groups is an hour or two.

Groups can be open, where anybody can join at any time, or closed, where members can only enter and leave at certain times.
